Curriculum Goals for Early 3 year olds.

At Hearts and Hands Preschool, our curriculum is designed with a singular goal:
To empower young minds for a future of success and fulfillment. We go beyond traditional education, fostering a love for learning, building character, and instilling a sense of curiosity. With a blend of academic excellence, creative exploration, and values-driven teachings, our curriculum is a roadmap for the holistic development of each child.

 Basics:

  • Responds to being called by their first name.

  • They begin to speak enough so that people other than their family and friends can understand them.

  • Feeds themselves using a fork or a spoon, can eat finger food successfully, and drinks from a standard cup.

  • Progressing in potty training and asking the teacher to go when the urge arises.

  • Knows how to flush the toilet, learn to wipe themselves, and wash hands & face.

  • They carry some of their things to and from school and properly put them away.

  • Being comfortable being away from parent or caregiver.

  • Being comfortable at school with the teacher and other children.

  • Learning at school means listening to the teacher.

  • Learning to throw garbage away in garbage cans.

  • Learning to dress & undress themselves.

  • Can take off and put on socks & shoes.

  • Learning how to fix their bedding mat for naps.

 

Social Skills:

  • Beginning to understand that other people have rights and feelings and not to be egocentric.

  • Can sit quietly for at least 5 minutes.

  • Plays with a toy, concentrates on a task, listens to a story, and plays with others.

  • Plays peacefully with other children, learning how to take turns and share.

  • Learning how to use their words effectively.

  • Learning how to stay on their mat calmly and quietly.

  • Knows the difference between happy, sad, & mad.

 Academic Skills :

  • Uses crayons, pencils, markers, glue, paint, and scissors appropriately.

  • Able to count at least to 10, but always encouraged to count higher.

  • Introduction to letters and beginning to recognize letters.

  • Introduction to Numbers 1-10.

  • Beginning to recognize the colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, brown, grey, & white.

  • Beginning to recognize their first name written.

  • Looks at a picture and can identify what it is, i.e., animals, shapes, colors, etc.

  • Beginning to recognize the difference between letters and numbers.

Language Development:

  • Beginning to use language effectively to express wants and needs.

  • Uses, please, and thank you.

  • Can speak in sentences using up to 5 words.

  • Can recognize familiar sounds.

  • Ask a lot of questions.

  • Enjoys sharing information and telling stories.

Motor Development:

  • Gaining control over large motor skills by walking, running, climbing, balancing, and hoping.

  • Learning to form a line, hold rings, & follow the leader.

  • Developing more significant development over small motor skills by ripping paper, controlling a spoon or fork, feeding themselves, beginning to color, & picking up objects.

  • Able to hold small objects and manipulate them.

  • Beginning to trace shapes, letters, lines, numbers, etc., with a pencil.

  • Learning how to control & manipulate a pencil, crayon, marker, paintbrush, etc.

Science:

  • Explore different areas of discovery in physical, biological, and environmental sciences.

  • Experiment in different areas of discovery in physical, biological, and environmental sciences.

  • Process and think about the world around them.

Questions asked, observations made, & conclusions discovered about various topics and experiments.

Spiritual Development:

  • Listens to Bible truths in story format.

  • Listens to and learns to sing Bible songs.

  • Learns God is the creator of all things.

  • Prays before meals, during circle time, and for friends.

  • Learning about God’s love for us and learning that Jesus is His son.

  • Shows love to one another by giving hugs, showing empathy, and using kind words.

  • Beginning to remember key people from the Bible.
